Over The Rainbow

I was having lunch with Geraldine and Edward. We discussed about Prom The Musical over lunch and then our new script Dreamgirl The Musical, and then we came up with another interesting story, YES, another NEW PLOT! We name it OVER THE RAINBOW for now. So, while we are preparing to stage Prom The Musical, we will also be developing DTM and OTR. We hope that we can put up DTM before Christmas 2009 and OTR in 2010. Wow, yeah, it sounds big, but what's wrong with big dreams? Even if it doesn't turn out, I have nothing to lose hahahaha.....God bless all of us. Whatever happens, happens for a reason!

Clearance from Mrs. Chan

Hip hip hurray! Permission to restage Prom The Musical from Mrs. Chan is granted! We are really on our way up to produce a tip-top musical to entertain you! Stay tune for more details on the audition date and venue.
There will be more interesting characters and songs to be included in the new version of Prom The Musical. Can't wait to update you on that! I am indeed feeling sad as I can't bring all my cast and crew to perform once again at KLPAC due to many many factors. But, trust me, if I could, I would! How can I forget all your contribution? Your effort and preservarance during the rehearsal period really touched me. I sincerely thank you for the good show you put up and it was because of that, I am confident to bring PTM to show the world. It was because of you that I managed to realise my dream. So, thank you! Thank you to all cast, crew, chorus and musicians of PTM! I wish I can work with all of you again some day!

Science Tuition

It's the last day of my Science tuition class with Joel, Greg, Ghia Jun and the newly recruits, Fiona and Nikki :) as they will be sitting for the SPM paper tomorrow!
It's getting emotional towards the end of the session as everyone was tearing when I sang "AULD LANG SYNE". No lah...no one cried la...however, I have to admit that I had two years of great moments with the three boys. Too bad F and N joined us only for a few lessons. How I wish they were there with us last year.

Thanks guys, for the trust, the cooperation, effort and most of all the CASH! :)
I sincerely wish you guys the very best of luck.
I guarantee you 1A in the coming SPM!!! See la, next March!

Audition for Prom The Musical

...the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre...

If your age is between 16-26 (male>168cm, female>153 cm), who has good stage presence (i.e. pretty/good looking la) and can dance well (in broadway/modern jazz/latin/etc), you are invited to come for an audition in December at KLPAC (tentative). Successful candidates could be recruited as our core team for other future productions!

For those who wish to audition for the main cast, singing is cruicial! I mean you must be able to sing in tune, good pitching and rhythm.

Who posted this piece of shit?

The title of my post is the title for SriKdu's Performance and Awards Night this year 2008.SriKdu produced their own semi-original production this year. Some songs were taken from Hairspray and Mamma Mia, and some were original, but sounded sucky to me.Show started at around 7.20pm. and ended at erm 11pmHad 2 free tickets as my sis was performing. So mum and grandma gotta go. My 2 other sis, well they bought tickets, which cost a FREAKING RM50 each. Well I dint ask my sis to get me a ticket, I had my way. Well you know, I'm always famous for my notoriety in SriKdu.So I got the greatest idea to sneak into the hall amongst the crowd. I thought of how to reply to the door-keeper if I were asked "Where are your tickets, sir?", and my answer would be, "I just came from the toilets, my ticket is with my mum, would you like to follow me to where my mum is sitting and I'll show you my ticket."Unfortunately, SriKdu EPIC PHAILED in the door-keeping and ushering guests to their seats. There was barely no one at the door checking tickets, too few ushers guiding guests to their seats, and basically if you dint purchase tickets, well Good Day for you, FREE SHOW.So I was seated somewhere left in the hall, around the middle. I was quite near to the music instruments. So yea, enjoying the air-conditioned hall which so happens doesnt feel like there were any air-conds at all. *Remember SriKdu Secondary Hall has those cheap-skate government school windows, and yea the doors were open wide most of the time.Lots of empty seats at the back rows, could prolly seat about another 100 perhaps?Well I saw quite some faces there, most familiar A.K. Chan. Normally everyone address her as Mrs. Chan, but LMAO the emcee of the night called her MRS. A.K. Chan. Im like lmao, so what next thing we go around introducing ourselves by asking ppl to call us like, "Hi, Im J.M. EA, pls dont call me that, I would feel retarded and so would you".Damn kao boring show I would say, if I were to review this production for some paper or magazine, my boss would not even allow it to be published. Alright no till that bad la, give chance a bit, as they took 13 days to put on this show, and they are not that professional yet. I enjoyed the Dreamgirls song part, tht was nice overall, and also the dance number where the entire cast was dancing, somewhere at the end.And yea the show was also something most guys would want to see, cuz seriously the girls Dressed to Kill, I'm like ... WTF how come SriKdu so many leng lui wan suddenly. So yea, my eyes were cleansed and rejuvenated. Well there were guys looking good too, but sorry I dont look at them that much, or else I would be Slapping the SHYT out of myself. So guess that's all to report. TaTa for now.Oh wait, need to tell you this, the lead actor in the musical is 18 years old and has graduated from SriKdu, he's in Taylor's College doing a Diploma of Architecture, so What The F*** is he doing performing in SriKdu's play?My 1st answer : SriKdu KIASU.My 2nd answer : All other guys in SriKdu not qualified for the part.Damn, EPIC FAIL.oh wait the Epic Fail also includes, why the heck you need 3 keyboards.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Wow, it was such brilliant acting! That was my first reaction after sitting through a 55-min Act 1 of the CLTCL. These actors are fresh, well at least to Pentas 2 of KLPAC. I was really amazed by how precise and in-depth their emotions were; the interaction among the actors in each sketch was tight and the energy was intensed!
Well, I have to admit that before the show started, I was a bit reluctant to go because of the theme, i.e. love, courtship, marriage and family! How interesting can the play be considering that the play features an ensemble cast comprising Ann Choo, Ee Soon Wei, Colin Kirton, Sean Low, Linora Low, Jonathan Tan and Adrene Wong, except for Colin, all the others are new species to the planet of performing arts TO ME la! However, after the first sketch, I must praise Colin (the creator, producer and director) and his team of Footstool Players, for a wonderful and meaningful production! THUMBS-UP TO YOU GUYS!
RATING: 4* (MUST WATCH)
1st* Entertaining and fun to watch (good acting and directing)
2nd* Educational & information (good script)
3rd* Audience-oriented and good response from audience (good publicity and well researched)
4th* Good team spirit and sincere production
5th Low budget, less impressive set and programme book

I am still overwhelmed to the fact that Prom The Musical will be restaged!! This means that we will be having new set, YES, new set! Let's pray and keep our fingers crossed again. Guys, please help us spread the good news around. facebook it if you can so that more people know about Prom The Musical coming in April 2009!

The ones that I highlighted in RED are the ones that I targeted la. 5 stars!! Good Luck!

Good news vs bad news

The good news is I will be meeting up Dato' Faridah Merican tomorrow to discuss the proposal of re-staging Prom The Musical at KLPAC. Nothing solid but let's keep our fingers crossed that we can perform there at Pentas 2.

The bad news is we have contacted SILKYGIRL through Tan Jiann Meng but sad to say that Silkygirl is not interested in supporting small-scale musicals like ours. Too bad! Anyway, thanks Jiann Meng, we will continue to look for other sponsors. At the mean time, if anyone knows anyone who would like to support us in anyway they possibly could, please let us know. Please support Malaysian Performing Arts and young budding Malaysian talents! We need you!

Tunku The Musical 07

...that was Fariza, Payal, Dato' Faridah, and Sherry after the
opening night of Tunku The Musical '07, how time really flies...
...Douglas Lim is not just what you think he is on stage,
he is a lot more talented! Glad to be part of the ensemble...

...the native Sarawakian who can speak Mandarin, Tony, who
can be as funny as Douglas. Wish to work with him one day...

...this is the man who taught us a.ka.la.pa.chi. well, anything
la. Dominique, I am teaching my cast what you taught us
during Tunku The Musical. It really helps! Inhale...Exhale...

...Joe Hasham, the director of Tunku The Musical. I learnt a
lot from the musical, an eye opener for me in local production...

Thursday, November 13, 2008

...this is a good friend, creative playwright and talented
director, Mark Beau de Silva, the person who introduced
me to the world of theatre. I thank him for the friendship...

Let's go and catch BOTTOM TOP at KLPAC from 27 to 30 Nov.

If you have to miss this, you can catch it at Bangsar Actors Studio

on the 12 and 13 December.

Ticket priced at RM25 and RM15 (students, senior citizens and the disabled)

This is a comedy of mother and son, fitting in social roles, and getting it all mixed up.

Come and watch Faridah Merican and Mark on stage, directed by Joe Hasham!

海狮&企鹅

...你刚刚睡醒的样子, 就是这样了, 很迷人哦!...

Penguin

..."真想和你拥有一个属于我们的家"...

...我们有共同的梦想、方向、未来, 让我们一起努力吧!...

...我回来啦! 你烧了热水给我冲凉了吗?...

...睇咩睇! 没见过靓鹅啊?...

F for Female

F for Female was a play that I directed in March this year. I would like to thank Fariza, the producer, for giving me a chance to work with such talented and dedicated actors. We indeed had a great time at Bangsar Actors' Studio. Although the play was not very well received, due to many factors, it was happy to know that there were no major problems in this production.
...Adrina, Pat and Farina in the changing room...

...the very talented Sherry. I promised myself that
I will direct her again one day. She is a darling to work
with...fun, dedicated, charismatic, kind and helpful...

...full cast of FFF. Look at how much weight I have gained over
the past 6 months or more. Must seriously watch my diet...

This is a new project that I am working on. Hopefully I can convince
someone to produce this musical. The plot is ready, the songs have
selected, the main production team was formed, what we need now
is sponsor...lots of sponsors! Is there anyone who are willing to help
promote budding Malaysian talents and support Malaysian performing arts?
Wow, so ugly la. It was red and see what blogspot has
transformed my poster into...like Porn The Musical...

This is taken from the programme book. It looks ugly
here...perhaps the format is not supported by blogspot!
...my two 心腹!there is a reason why these two bet-bet
are always picked to be my runners. They are capable,
reliable and easy to work with. They know what I want
and will stay back with me to see things being completed...

...see, they are there again. I basically will teach them anything
I know, from managing cast to contructing artistic concepts,
girls, sometimes I wonder if you guys can absorb all that I
shared with you, hahaha...anyway, thanks for a job well done!...

...they are there again! This time we are dealing with make-up...

...they were helping me with the programme book...

...the three ladies whom I want to extend my heart-felt
thanks to, Yun Xin, Yi Lin and Geraldine. It's been a
pleasure working with you. I wish we will have more
chances of working together in the future. THANK YOU!!...

...This is my lead, Qing Yang. A charming, talented and
smart guy. I am glad I asked him back to play Gary.
He is a disciplined and experienced performer. A person
who will not give you any problem in a production. Qing
Yang, keep up the good work! Am I writing a progress report?...

...Qing Yang waiting backstage before intermission.
I am seriously waiting to bring him out to show
the public what this chap can do, fingers crossed...

...Qing Yang has such supportive parents. I went to his
house selecting his costume with the mother and through our
conversation you know how supportive they are. He has a pair
of new shoes, new shirt, new etc...just for this production...

...my two 爱将!It's just fun and satisfying seeing the two
of them act, sing and dance on stage. Well, perhaps that's
because I created 'them' and therefore they are like my
anak. They must be introduced to the world outside of Sri KDU...

...this girl has the charm that will make you like her.
Aliesha, my best wishes to you in whatever you do in future...

...director's note...please study hard for PMR next year
ok, I have another new role for you next year, haha...

...it's such a pleasure meeting Aliesha's family, that's Puan Asmara
and...Tuan Asmara hehehe...Thanks you so much for letting Aliesha
be part of us. We are indeed very proud of her! I am sure you do too...
...the recipient of the Chairman's Award '08, Ee Wui Yang.
Well, this is a man of multi-talent, good in studies, dancing,
cheerleading, sports, presidents of many clubs...my successor
la, hahahaha...yalah, I know the two bet-bet are calling me
perasan again!...

...the talented and beautiful Melissa Campbell, the
recipient of this year's President's Award. She is
just too gorgeous to be true!...

...both Kareem and Kitt Mun are good performers.
They have also another thing in common - both
names with a "K" and an "M", hehehe...

...the John Travolta in the making. Kareem is
a budding star in the acting scene. Lots of
potential and stage charm. You are ready
to shine, dude!...
...my Combo Band Leader, Yi Tang. The one
I can always count him on! I know you didn't
want to be in-charge of the band, but because
I asked for it, you did it for me. Thanks Yi Tang!...
...my adorable chorus. You guys were independent! Thanks
for the effort especially the F3s who joined us after their
PMR exam, didn't even have a break man! Thank you...

...the real Dreamgirls, Dulcie, Chong Wei,
Nicole, Eleena and Racheal...

...this is the most talented pianist I have ever worked
with, Muhammad Danish Leow. You can throw him any
song and he will play for you on the spot. Yes, he is that
good! Happy belated birthday, Danish! :) ...

...a shot before we go home after the big night. I am
so proud of this year's programme book. I took over
2 weeks ago and would like to thank Pang for his
dedication in helping me with all the photoshoots, the
crew for handling the logistics, the 'models' for making
my job easy, thank you thank you!...
...Wui Jie is another great help in the musical.
Thank you for staying back to touch up the set
3 hours before the show started. You are indeed
better than a lot of self-claimed teachers...

...the crew of Prom The Musical. They really did a good
job. I discovered new talents, Sudesh and Andrew...

...My two ASMs, Pamela and Yi Lin. Thanks Yi Lin
in guiding Pam and the rest of the crew...

...my new stage crew. It's not easy to recruit so many
male crew who are capable in running a show. I am glad
you guys joined us. But too bad I still can't remember your
names, except for Kai Wen and Evan (from right). I wish I
had more time to coach you guys!...
